Ingredients (240 ml cup used)

  • ½ cup long grain rice (uncooked)
  • 2 cups chopped cabbage
  • Green peas as needed (optional)
  • 2 to 3 green chilies (deseeded)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves
  • ½ of a star anise or 2 petals
  • 1 strand of mace
  • Pepper as desired
  • ¾ tsp vinegar
  • Salt as needed

How to make the recipe

  1. Wash, soak, and cook rice grainy, not mushy. Cool completely.
  2. Cut quartered cabbage to slices and then chop. Set aside.
  3. Heat a wok with oil on a high heat. Saute garlic, chilies, mace and star anise until fragrant.
  4. Add cabbage and peas and fry for 2 to 3 mins. Add vinegar.
  5. Saute for few more mins until the cabbage turns slightly golden.
  6. Add rice, pepper and salt.
  7. Mix and fry for another 1 to 2 mins.
  8. Serve cabbage fried rice hot or warm with a veggies salad.
