Ingredients (240 ml cup used)

  • ¾ cup cooked thick dal / pappu (refer notes)
  • 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour / atta
  • ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
  • ½ tsp chilli powder (adjust)
  • salt as needed
  • ¼ to ½ tsp garam masala
  • ghee or oil as needed

optional

  • 1 to 2 green chilies paste
  • coriander leaves few chopped finely
  • methi handful chopped

How to make the recipe

  1. Add ginger garlic, salt, garam masala, chili powder and salt to cooked daal. Mash everything well.
  2. Add flour and make a dough. Knead it well until it turns soft.
  3. Divide the dough to 6 to 8 balls.
  4. Flour the rolling area and begin to roll a ball to a roti.
  5. Smear oil or ghee and fold it. Repeat smearing oil.
  6. Fold it again to get a triangle.
  7. Roll the triangle to a paratha that is of even thickness all over.
  8. Finish making all the paratha.
  9. Heat a pan or tawa. Move a paratha to the hot pan.
  10. When bubbles begin to appear, flip it to the other side and gently press with a spatula.
  11. It begins to fluff up. Cook until brown spots are seen , meaning it is cooked.
  12. Smear ghee or oil over the dal paratha. Serve with a chutney or curry.
